I am so overjoyed to share this Fairhope, AL Birth photography session with you all!
I vividly remember the first time I ever saw a birth. It was not in person. I was just flipping the channels one sunny afternoon. I had never in my life seen it happen and before I knew it, there I was, watching “A Baby Story” on TLC, my mouth (and eyes) literally wide open. I was in that train-wreck state, you know where you want to look away but you can’t. It was happening and I was watching. Terrified.
And then the most amazing thing happened.
At the last push as the baby was entering the world, the mom reached for her child and immediately pressed it against her exhausted chest. And I? Well I burst into uncontrollable tears.
I never forgot that moment, the overwhelming emotion I felt while simply watching a birth on an old school reality show. And now I type this as a mother of one precious girl who, at her birth, I too held so tightly to my chest in joy, whispering her name over and over. One of the most cherished items in our house is the album of photographs that documents her birthday. (I thank my talented friend Aimee Reynolds for those.) How amazing that I get to capture those priceless moments for others. Katie was having a baby girl, and after shooting other portraits for her along with her most recent maternity shoot, she and her husband graciously trusted me to be present when sweet Caroline was born. These are a few of the many, many images taken that day. What an amazing and truly wonder-filled opportunity. Thank you, Katie. Thank you so much. Congratulations on your perfect baby girl!
